Racism is connected to immigrantion
Like many people Adrian Gomez fled Mexico as a little boy to get a better life but was deported later in his life as a man. This would be Gomez’s first time back to Mexico in 34 years. He crossed the border when he was 9 years old. By the time he reached 43 he is now a father, a husband, and co-owner of a construction company. But that all ended when last year on a Saturday night, an agent from the U.S Immigration and Customs Enforcement was looking for a man but ended up taking Gomez instead of the other man. After a year of court hearings Gomez and 20 other people that were going to be deported. They were put onto white Ford vans and driven to the border of Mexico and America. In his first day back he spent the night in Tijuana. He stayed in Casa del Migrante which is a shelter run by Roman Catholic priests. “I can't believe this has happened to me” says Gomez
Racism is connected to immigration. Racism is segregation against someone who is not the same race as you. Most of the citizens that were Mexican were born here in America.” During the 1930s and into the 1940s, up to 2 million Mexicans and Mexican-Americans were deported or expelled from cities and towns across the U.S. and shipped to Mexico. According to some estimates, more than half of these people were U.S. citizens, born in the United States.” This quote explains how much Mexicans were deported. This shows how people were racist towards Mexicans because they deported all of them without a reason, even the Mexicans that were citizens..
"There was a perception in the United States that Mexicans are Mexicans," Balderrama said. "Whether they were American citizens, or whether they were Mexican nationals, in the American mind — that is, in the mind of government officials, in the mind of industry leaders — they're all Mexicans. So ship them home." This quote, said by Francisco Balderrama, a California State University historian, indicates that they didn't care if they were born in America and they were a United States citizen they just wanted them out of the country because they were Mexican.
“She was raped, sodomised, tortured, and killed, a veteran 66 year old women by an illegal immigrant, we have no choice.” This quote from Donald Trump says that illegal immigrants are rapists, so they have to go back to Mexico. This is racism because he is saying that Mexicans are rapist and that they need to get deported for that but that's not gonna fix anything.
All in all, racism is connected to immigration because people didn't care at one time if Mexicans were born U.S citizens, they just wanted them to get out of their country. Also according to Trump immigrants need to be deported because they rape people. All of this shows how immigration is connected to racism
