The Best Summer

the best summer I had was the summer of 7th grade. My first your of middle school had just ended and I was ready to go to a summer program that my mom signed me up for. Me , my cousins and a close friend would all be going together. I didn't know what we were gonna be doing at the program but I knew it would be fun with them. The program was far away at a college, we had choices of the things we wanted to do. I chose to make an underwater robot. I developed an interest in engineering and computers.

Girl Stolen by: April Henry

Cheyenne  Wilder is sick and waiting, for her step mom in her car, to come back from the pharmacy with her medication. While she is sleeping she realizes that someone other than her step mom has gotten into the car and drove off. Griffin, the guy who stole the car, takes it back to his house that him, his dad, and two of his dads workers are at. While Cheyenne is in the house tied up she try's to get alone do she can find a weapon to fight back. But Griffin and his colleagues and dad find out that Cheyenne is the daughter of the Nike president. Read the book to find out if she escapes or not.

This book was really intense because there was moments were you just done want to stop reading especially when a big turn in the book happens. This book is filled with twists and turns and cliff hangers. It pulls you and and won't let you go. The author also goes into a lot of detail of how, because Cheyenne is blink, she uses different parts of her body for different functions.

The 8th Grade School Year

i think that my eighth grade year was really fun! It's cool to know that everyone knows, each other and new friendships have developed over the years. Many people have changed over the years and the shortest kids in sixth grade are the tallest ones now. I used to think all of those movies about kids in middle school would be like actual middle school but I think that we are crazier. We don't throw toilet paper around the school but we are super loud. I think we are craziest school in Berwyn. But when you're in 8th grade you're loud because you're having fun. I think that these past 3 years of my life will be very memorable.

NO NOT SNAKES!!

One my biggest fears is being close to a snake. They just freak me out. I don't like it when in tv shows they show like close ups of snakes hissing or like when they hunt down there prey because it's just scary how terrifying they look. And their eyes just make them even more scary. I'm not scared of boa constrictor because those just wrap around you and they are less likely to bite you but the small ones seem more vicious. I think that the scariest snake in the world is the rattle snake because the rattle taunts the prey. I think that if I ever get close to a snake I will feel very vulnerable because I feel like it would bite me.

Back to the bottom

Here we are almost the end of 8th grade. Sounds fun right? Well it's kind of scary. Going to a new school where we go from the oldest to the youngest. But I'm not really thinking about it to much. I know it won't be exactly the same as middle school but I'm not really expecting anything. I think that for a few weeks I'll have to be doing high school solo because all of my good friends are going too different schools. But I think that I should just enjoy this last month as much as I can.

Clean Up with Friends

The day began with getting to the school and meeting up friends and getting into our groups. One of the guys who was in charge to get the volunteers into groups suggested that we go to the park. So we decided that we would go to Proska Park. We walked around for about 30 minutes and learned that we could leave the area to go to more of Berwyn. We ended up going to sunshine park, Janura, and Irving elementary school. After that our garage bags were pretty full so we went back to the school to eat and sign out so we could get our points. After all it was a pretty good day because I got to hang out with my friends for most of the day.

Kids Perspective on Holocaust

Based on the poems that we read the landscape is said to be very beautiful. In The Boy With the Striped Pajamas they talk about how the landscape was beautiful and in the movie you can actually see how there is a nice forest and flowers but that all end once you end the concentration camps. In the pictures we saw there was people that were really malnourished. And in the movie the little boy was always really hunger.

In the movie every thing was really sad and gloomy but in the poems some of them were really happy and trying to find the good in stuff. In the poems they didn't talk about the gas chambers but in the movie in the last scene they show the little boys perspective and it shows how they stuffed them into the chamber and they fillled it with gas. And they part makes it really sad.

In  the movie life was viewed as beautiful by the little boys becoming friend even though one of them was a Jew. Both of them were really happy to have a friend and they played and laughed together. And even though one of them was told that the jews were bad but he didn't believe it because he knew his friend was good.
