Univision Gives False Facts

Should you trust major news sources? Well sometimes big news sources like Univision don't investigate deep enough and they don't give true facts. Univision was contacted by some parents from Emerson Elementary School in the beginning weeks of the school year. The parents told Univision that their children were complaining about their 3rd grade teacher being mean and racist to them. The kids said that they were not allowed to go to the bathroom more then once a day. They also said that they were not allowed to speak Spanish in class.

According to a staff member from district 100, most of the students that said that they were told not to speak Spanish were coming from a dual language classroom and their teacher told them that they were going to try to speak english,"First of all we have to understand that most of the kids were coming from a dual language classroom, So there teacher spoke Spanish to them, So when they entered this non dual language classroom they were told that they were going to try to speak English more". She also said that the students did not give their teachers a chance because it was only the second day of school. Obviously Univision didn't get both sides of the story, which made it seem bias.

But Univision was correct about the kids not being able to go to the bathroom. According to a students from heritage, she said that her little brother had gotten a "purple slip", demerit, for going to the bathroom twice a day. "My brother got a purple slip for going to the bathroom two times in a day." There also was a father lof one of the girls from the third grade classroom that said that the teacher was bring mean to her and the other Spanish speaking kids from the class.The girls has also had many other problems with previous teachers. So next time you hear a story think twice

Character Analysis

What I learned about Darry is that he is a tough hardworking guy who is a greaser that could be a soc but his held back by his friends. As the story goes into the rising action Darry gets more and more frustrated with Ponyboy. He hits his breaking point when Ponyboy falls asleep in the lot with Johny so he hits him. After that we see that when pony comes back from hiding, Darry is crying. This shows that Darry has a emotional side. After that Darry starts to become more playful and nice to Ponyboy.  We hear him offer to stay at home for Ponyboy and warning him so he doesn't get sick. But no later then that they start to fight. But they stop because thtey realize that they are hurting sodapop. So things go back to Darry being nice. In the story we also learn that Darry hates the thought that he didn't finish college and the only thing that's holding him back from being a soc is the gang and his brothers.

"There are many kind, sensitive souls who hide beneath their tough exterior" this poem is a good connection to Darry. This is a good connection because he shows his sensitive side when Ponyboy comes back from the hideout Darry is crying. And he doesn't show his sensitive side any other time. He also shows his sensitive side after Ponyboy goes home because Ponyboy says in the story the Darry talks to him differently. He talks to him normally. Like he talks to Sodapop.

Throwback blog

When I was younger I liked the books " Little Critter" Every night my mom mad me read the book. I still have the little critter books downstairsz on a shelf. My favorite movie from when i was younger was "The Little Rascals" I really liked this movie because it was very funny back then. My favorite things to do was play soccer. But now my favorite thing is to play basketball. When I was smaller I didn't have a phone, well that hasn't changed because I still don't have a phone. My favorite TV show was my babysitters a vampire. I liked this show because at that time I was into like super humans and stuff like that. But it's pretty cheesy now that I look back at it. But I'm still into like super natural stuff. Like right now I'm really into Harry Potter. When I was younger my mother dressed me, of course, she dressed me in all kinds of things. One of the best memories I have is when I went to Mexico City with my mom and brothers and it was very fun to eat new food and meet family that I had never meet.

Tips for good blogs

Follow direction on what each paragraph is about. This a good one because if you don't know what your writing about then you'll be totally lost. This is important because then it will be an easier blog to read.

Organize. This is a good one because if you don't organize then your blog will be a huge mess and readers won't know what your talking about. This helps because it will make your blog better

Where I want to travel

I would like to travel to Spain. I would want to travel there because they have very colorful culture. Also because I could see new things and learn new things.. I would also like to taste the food there because I can imagine that it's good. Also because the language is similar to Spanish to I could hear the similarities and differences.

About Me

My name is Laura. I'm 13 and an 8th grader. My race is Hispanic. I love to play basketball. I'm on a travel team and on the school team. I have 3 brothers and 2 sisters. 2 of my brothers live at home and the others live somewhere. I plan on going to Nazerath high school. In 10 years

In 10 years I want to finish college. After college I want to travel the world. And I would like to have my own dog. I want to go to the University of Illinois and major as a computer scientist. I want to finish college because if I finish I will have a better life. I want to travel the world because I want to see new places. I want to have a dog because I like dogs. I want to go to the University of Illinois because it's a good school. I want to be a computer scientist because it pays a lot.

Summer reading

In 47 by Walter Mosley the child soon to be a working slave was living with his guardian, Big Mama Flore. 47 doesn't know who his father is or where he is. His Mother died when she was giving birth to 47. Master Tobias, Plantation owner, gave him to Big Mama  and told her that when he was big enough he would work in the field with all the other working slaves. When the time came for 47 to work, Mr. Stewart, Master Tobias overseer, took 47 from Big Mama but 47 put up a fight. Mom shut the door on 47's face which made him very depressed. The next day he was branded and working in the field with the other slaves while his brand was hurting.

In this book, 47 acts scaries in many situations. An example of this is when Mr. Stewart takes 47 to the slave cabin to work," The whole time I kicked and shouted I worried that Mr. Stewart was going to take me out to the killin' shake for being so unruly." P-11 This shows that he was very scared in this situation so he began to shout and kick. Also in this book 47 feels sad and heart broken in a lot of the book," my first moments in the slave quarters might have been frightening if it wasn't for my broken heart over Big Mama slamming the door on me. This shows he is heart broken because he actually says that he his heart broken. In a lot of the book 47 treats others kindly. Fort example," Is that so, forty-seven? Yessuh," I said," this shows that he treats others nicely because he could have told Master that the boy he found was a run away slave. All in all, 47 acts scarred, feels heart broken, and he treats others kindly.
