The Best Summer

the best summer I had was the summer of 7th grade. My first your of middle school had just ended and I was ready to go to a summer program that my mom signed me up for. Me , my cousins and a close friend would all be going together. I didn't know what we were gonna be doing at the program but I knew it would be fun with them. The program was far away at a college, we had choices of the things we wanted to do. I chose to make an underwater robot. I developed an interest in engineering and computers.

Girl Stolen by: April Henry

Cheyenne  Wilder is sick and waiting, for her step mom in her car, to come back from the pharmacy with her medication. While she is sleeping she realizes that someone other than her step mom has gotten into the car and drove off. Griffin, the guy who stole the car, takes it back to his house that him, his dad, and two of his dads workers are at. While Cheyenne is in the house tied up she try's to get alone do she can find a weapon to fight back. But Griffin and his colleagues and dad find out that Cheyenne is the daughter of the Nike president. Read the book to find out if she escapes or not.

This book was really intense because there was moments were you just done want to stop reading especially when a big turn in the book happens. This book is filled with twists and turns and cliff hangers. It pulls you and and won't let you go. The author also goes into a lot of detail of how, because Cheyenne is blink, she uses different parts of her body for different functions.

The 8th Grade School Year

i think that my eighth grade year was really fun! It's cool to know that everyone knows, each other and new friendships have developed over the years. Many people have changed over the years and the shortest kids in sixth grade are the tallest ones now. I used to think all of those movies about kids in middle school would be like actual middle school but I think that we are crazier. We don't throw toilet paper around the school but we are super loud. I think we are craziest school in Berwyn. But when you're in 8th grade you're loud because you're having fun. I think that these past 3 years of my life will be very memorable.

NO NOT SNAKES!!

One my biggest fears is being close to a snake. They just freak me out. I don't like it when in tv shows they show like close ups of snakes hissing or like when they hunt down there prey because it's just scary how terrifying they look. And their eyes just make them even more scary. I'm not scared of boa constrictor because those just wrap around you and they are less likely to bite you but the small ones seem more vicious. I think that the scariest snake in the world is the rattle snake because the rattle taunts the prey. I think that if I ever get close to a snake I will feel very vulnerable because I feel like it would bite me.

Back to the bottom

Here we are almost the end of 8th grade. Sounds fun right? Well it's kind of scary. Going to a new school where we go from the oldest to the youngest. But I'm not really thinking about it to much. I know it won't be exactly the same as middle school but I'm not really expecting anything. I think that for a few weeks I'll have to be doing high school solo because all of my good friends are going too different schools. But I think that I should just enjoy this last month as much as I can.

Clean Up with Friends

The day began with getting to the school and meeting up friends and getting into our groups. One of the guys who was in charge to get the volunteers into groups suggested that we go to the park. So we decided that we would go to Proska Park. We walked around for about 30 minutes and learned that we could leave the area to go to more of Berwyn. We ended up going to sunshine park, Janura, and Irving elementary school. After that our garage bags were pretty full so we went back to the school to eat and sign out so we could get our points. After all it was a pretty good day because I got to hang out with my friends for most of the day.

Kids Perspective on Holocaust

Based on the poems that we read the landscape is said to be very beautiful. In The Boy With the Striped Pajamas they talk about how the landscape was beautiful and in the movie you can actually see how there is a nice forest and flowers but that all end once you end the concentration camps. In the pictures we saw there was people that were really malnourished. And in the movie the little boy was always really hunger.

In the movie every thing was really sad and gloomy but in the poems some of them were really happy and trying to find the good in stuff. In the poems they didn't talk about the gas chambers but in the movie in the last scene they show the little boys perspective and it shows how they stuffed them into the chamber and they fillled it with gas. And they part makes it really sad.

In  the movie life was viewed as beautiful by the little boys becoming friend even though one of them was a Jew. Both of them were really happy to have a friend and they played and laughed together. And even though one of them was told that the jews were bad but he didn't believe it because he knew his friend was good.

Unstoppable By: Tim Green

Unstoppable is the fictional story of a boy named Harrison who is a orphan. He first lives with a foster family that is really mean and they beat him if they think he did something wrong. They try to adopt him for some strange reason and they end up adopting him. But when they got back to their home Harrison continues his chores and his new "dad" comes in to beat him for not calling him pops when Harrison finally fights back and accidentally stabbed him with a Pickford. This leads to Harrison being put into a Juvenial center until he is adoped into a very nice family. Harrison's new family was phenomenal . His adoptive father was a football coach, Harrison asked him if he could play football. But during the season he gets hurt and he faces a serious problem but he over comes it. Read the book to find out what happens.

I really liked this book because it was so good to see someone's life get turned upside down in a matter of seconds. I also think this this book shows how nothing can stay at its peak forever. Whatever goes up has come down. I think that kids who play on teams and especially football players would enjoy the detail that the author gives when he is playing football. The way he explains it is really good and you can make a movie in your head about it. I think that the ending shows how even if you have an injury it can't stop you from doing what you love too do.

Spring Break

This spring break was average. I had to rest a lot, which I hated because I sprained my ankle. I had to ice it for a long time. But thanks to that I recovered very quickly. So quick. That I started walking about last Thursday. But my ankle was still swollen even tho I had obtained the idea that it would be fully healed. On Thursday I was able to bo to the movies with my friend and we finally got to watch Beauty and the Beast. On Friday I went over to my friends house and other people came over. Saturday I did do any thing. Sunday I went to church and I had a cook out with my family. Over all I think that I had a good spring break.

Cook out with my family

Yesterday I had a cookout with my family for my cousins birthday. Everyone in my family is very loquacious so it was really loud. Me and my other cousins played volleyball, ate ice cream, and rode our bike. This is what we usually do when we have cook outs. The adults talk to each other and laugh. There is always lots of food and my favorite thing that we have is elotes. Cookouts with my family are really fun and I enjoy going to them.

Propaganda

This piece of propaganda is saying that kids should follow Hitler. This poster is intended for children because they are easy to trick so they will easily follow Hitler. Nazi party keep telling kids that Hitler is the great leader and they grow up thinking and believing that. Because they are constantly being told great things about Hitler they develop this love for him. It is effective because the kids will not ask questions and they will just follow Hitler.

Shooting the Moon

this book is about a girl names Jamie Dexter that is in an army family. She grew up thinking that the army life was the best life. But when her brother goes to Vietnam and sends her pictures. She starts to see that the army life isn't the best life.

I didn't really like this book because the story wasn't that interesting. Also  I didn't like it because I like more action book and this book didn't have so much action in it. But I would recommend it to people of all ages who like books about war.

Flipped

thus book is about a girl, Julianna, who has been in love with the boy next door, Bryce. Bryce doesn't really like Julianna. He wants to be left alone by her. One day Julianna comes over to Bryce's house to drop off some eggs that her chickens had laid. She finds out the Bryce had been through out the eggs and now thinks he's a coward. Julianna loses feelings for Bryce but he develops feelings for her. Read the rest of the book to learn more.

I think this book is good for people who like romance and teen novels. It's also a really interesting book that you want to keep reading forever. There was also a movie made and it's funny to see how it is played out. Even though there is a movie I think that the book is better.

Regret

One thing I regret not doing is start playing basketball at a younger age. I regret this because I could have been better than I already am. Instead I started playing soccer. But I think that if I was playing basketball from a younger age I would have developed into a better player on the court.

I feel like I've lost a really good opportunity to be really good at something. But now I have to work hard so I can makeup for all those year that I could have been playing. If I could go back in time I would try to convince my parents not to sign me up for soccer and sign me up for basketball because I would become better at basketball then soccer.

Someone I want to meet

I would want to meet Michael Jordan. I would want to meet Jordan because he could help me develop some new basketball skills. If I was with Michael Jordan I would play basketball at the YMCA all day. If I was with Jordan I would ask him for some of his shoes.

I think that Michael Jordan is worth meeting because he is a really good basketball player that did a lot of cool stuff in his career including breaking records. He also persevered through his journey to become a good basketball player. Also he just seems cool.

Perseverance

Nick was very confident. He can talk in front of all those people and he inspired them. Nick persevered because instead of letting himself do nothing he worked hard to give himself a better life. Nick repeated himself so much that he made jokes about himself.

Nick persevered to get himself a better life. And I did the same as he did. But Nick's experience was obviously worst then mine because he doesn't have arms or legs. But the video of him was very inspiring.

Super bowl commercial 84 Lumber

This commercial was very confusing at first. But after it was done and the company name came on I realized that they were advertising their materials but at the same time they were targeting Trump for the wall. The commercial shows how there is a mother and a daughter that are trying to cross the border. And it shows how a little girl is collected trash that are red and blue. Through the commercial it also shows people hard at work building something. At the end when her and her mom to the big wall they can't find a way over. The girl gives the flag to her mother and while they hug she sees a opening. And they see an opening they run towards it and find 2 big doors that the workers have made.

This commercial was hard to understand but if you really thought about it was easier to interpret. Through the commercial it shows the man using the tools from lumber 84 to show the quality of the product. But it also shows how Immigrants struggle to give their kids a good life.

Advice for president

some advice I wound give Trump is that not all immigrants and refugees are terrible and as horrible as he thinks they are and that he should rethink his plans on what to do with them. I suggest that immigration not be your biggest priority.

A lot of immigrants come here for a better life. And a lot of  them are good people who are just trying to get there kids a good education. And if you think about it we are all immigrants. The only people that have the right to be here are the Native Americans.

Argument

I've never had a huge argument but I've had a little one. The argument I've ever had was in 6th grade when my mom didn't want me to play basketball but I wanted to play a lot. So she took me to my first game and she didn't like it because she said that the other teams played to physical. This made me mad because I had been in soccer for my whole life and I had played soccer and that seemed more physical to me than basketball. So for the next few days I described how soccer was more physical than basketball. My mom finally gave in and let me play.

From this argument I learned that if you fight for what you want and you have good reasons to pursue what ever you want. Then you can have it. But you have to keep calm in an argument and be patient.

Stan Lee's Journey to Success

My nonfiction book is about the story of Stan Lee and he's difficulties and struggles to become the great comic book writer he is today. This book talks about his childhood and the difficulty that he's family went through. It's tells how Stanley loved literature and how his boss gave him a chance to
make a comic and his boss liked it a lot and from there his carrer grew.

I actually liked this book even though most of the books I read are fiction. I liked this book because it was interesting how a poor kid could grow up to make all of these cool superheroes. And it shows how in some parts of his carrer he didn't believe in himself. I also liked this book because it shows the increase in popularity for comic books increased.

Kindness over break.

One kind thing I did over break was that I volunteered at a homeless shelter. Every year there is a days where me and my family go to the church that the homeless people stay the night and we help out in the kitchen. My mom makes soup and my brothers and I go and serve it to the homeless people. After they are done eating we play card with some kids who go there. After that we clean up the kitchen and we go home.
